Both of my parents have been supportive and loving my entire life. And since I’ve started my blog they are constantly telling people about it and sharing it on social media. I cannot thank them enough for the love they have shown me over the years.
My Dad shared my blog and had two conversations this morning with two different people about mental illnesses . My mom shared my blog last night and had many conversations with many people about mental illnesses.
It’s exactly what I wanted to happen. I want to be a starting point for people to feel comfortable talking about mental health. It doesn’t matter if you’ve never had a diagnosis. It doesn’t matter if you’re new to this or don’t have anything personal to contribute. It doesn’t matter if you no longer suffer. What does matter is that you talk about it… and you listen when someone else talks about it.
I’ve very rarely been ashamed of sharing my story; I’ve been blessed to be this way. Many people aren’t as fortunate as I am. So that’s why I started this. I want to be the voice for those who haven’t found theirs yet. No one should ever feel they can’t share the fact they are living with a mental illness, in fear of being stigmatized. Mental illness is not choice and it frightens me how many people still think that it is! No one chooses this, no one chooses to be sick.
So please keep talking. If you can’t put it into your own words, please share mine. That’s what I write them for.
Talk.
Share.
Love.
Breathe.
It’s going to be okay.
I bookmarked your blog the day you posted it and I finally had some time to relax and read through it. I read every post, I relate to every post (I mean change the country genre haha). I am so proud or you sweet Hils! Keep doing you, cause you’re doing amazing! Love you! Linds xo
