Coached 5 games in 3 days. My players brought tears to my eyes many times with their great sportsmanship and unselfish play. Special Hockey has completely restored my faith in hockey. We witnessed first goals being scored and some moments I will never forget. We don’t care about who is winning, because for us it’s not about what the score clock reads. As a team we teach our players that we are there to have fun and to help others do the same. We want every player to leave with a smile on their face.
I wish I could say that I’ve gone through these past 3 days without any anxiety but I’d be lying. I’m not sleeping in my own bed, I don’t have my dog, just completely out of any normal routine. Yesterday was tough. And I’m still feeling the effects from it but today is a new day. My players are a huge help for when I’m having a bad day. They’ll never know the true impact they have on my life.
No more hockey until next weekend, just get to enjoy some time in the coldest place on earth, with some pretty amazing people.
